Let me show you how to play the theme song for Cheers.

Here's me playing it in my living room.

Now, here's the tutorial I made so you can learn how to do it yourself.

Okay so a lot of us (the ones whose kids aren’t home from school for the foreseeable future) just got some unstructured time dropped in our laps. Like it or not, a great reset button has been pressed, with a few surprise freedoms as a result.

Cooking up various dishes of comfort food for people is not a bad way to pass the time, and I’ve enjoyed running meals here and there for friends and neighbors since the Nashville tornado (yeah remember that? That was three weeks ago tomorrow).

Earlier this week I started wondering: what would be the musical equivalent of comfort food?

Duh, the answer is obvious: the theme song for Cheers.

You know the words by heart, and you kind of know how to play piano. Good enough. It’s not that hard and what’s best: it’s all of one minute long.
